The Presidency has sounded a strong warning to individuals attempting to defraud the Federal Government’s National School Feeding Programme, vowing that such criminal activities will face serious legal consequences.
In a statement released on Wednesday by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on School Feeding, the government condemned acts of impersonation, forgery, and extortion carried out under the false pretense of official engagement.
“The Presidency will not tolerate any form of criminal exploitation of this national initiative. The misuse of government identity to deceive and defraud contractors is a direct attack on the integrity of the State and will be treated accordingly,” the statement read.
The warning follows the discovery of a fraudulent network using forged presidential letterheads to extort money from unsuspecting contractors by pretending to offer school feeding contracts for public primary schools.
The Presidency confirmed that investigations are underway and assured the public that all those involved in the scam will be identified, prosecuted, and brought to justice without exception.
