Political Tsunami in Sokoto, as PDP Supporters Network Defect to APC

A leading political network and Support Group in Sokoto state, Ubandoma/Sagir Network for PDP gubernatorial candidate have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

A leader of the Group, who defected from the PDP to the APC, Alhaji Ahmad Labaran, along with over 300 followers including women said it’s the party’s lack of political ideology that prompted them to quit without delay.

He further stated that he and his group have regretted being members of the PDP, saying the time they wasted in PDP would have helped them establish themselves if they had been in the APC.

Labaran assured the gathering of APC leadership on the occasion that they would work hard and mobilize more support for the party to achieve victory come the 2023 general polls.

Receiving the defectors on behalf of the APC leader in the state, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, the APC Chairman, Sokoto state, Hon. Isah Sadiq Achida assured the new members that they would be treated like any other APC member in Sokoto state.

He assured that, if APC is given the mandate and elected into power in the state, the party would ensure justice, equity, and fairness in the even development of the state.

Achida added that an APC government in the state would improve the living standards of small-scale businessmen in the state and revamp all the sectors that have been grounded by PDP- led government in the state.

The state APC gubernatorial candidate, Hon. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto who was represented by the former Commissioner and APC stalwart in the state, Hon. Muhammadu Tukur Alkali while welcoming the defectors into APC said they would not regret coming joining the APC as the party is ready to receive more PDP supporters and ensure equal treatment to all members.

He went down memory lane during Wamakko’s led administration, saying, youth empowerment was one of the cardinal points accorded utmost importance by the government as many youths to n the state were gainfully employed.

He assured that, if Ahmad Aliyu is elected as Governor of Sokoto state, he would revive the abandoned projects by Tambuwal for human capital development.

Meanwhile, a philanthropist in the state through a Foundation ‘Aisha Foundation’ has empowered over one hundred women with financial assistance during the occasion in the area.

The event which took place at Unguwar Mallamai, Sokoto South Local Government Area of the state had in attendance, Member, of the State House of Assembly representing Sokoto South I, Hon. Almustapha Abdullahi Dust, candidates for Houses of Representatives and State Assembly, Hon. Bala Hassan Abubakar III, and Alhaji Aminu Gidado Jegawa.

Others are APC state Secretary, Abubakar Muhammad Yabo, Treasurer of the Party, Haruna Adiya, Publicity Secretary of the Party, Sambo Bello Danchadi, former Sokoto South Local Government Chairmen, Hon. Ya’u Muhammad Danda and Hon. Aminu Sani Liman, among  others.
