The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the successful resolution of a case involving a missing teenager discovered in Dadin Kowa Village, Doguwa Local Government Area of Kano State.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Command disclosed that a thorough investigation revealed the teenager, who had earlier claimed to be a Spanish national named Alex Ansol, is actually 16-year-old Yusuf Sabiu.

Police authorities identified his parents as Saminu Yusuf, 44, from Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State, and Habiba Alhassan Adam, 35, from Plateau State. Further findings indicated that the parents have been separated for over 13 years.

Yusuf Sabiu was formally handed over to his parents at the Doguwa Police Division by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), bringing the matter to a close.

The Command commended members of the press, media organisations, and social media users for their swift dissemination of information, noting that their efforts significantly contributed to tracing the teenager’s family and achieving a positive outcome.

It also urged parents and guardians to promptly report missing persons to the nearest police station, stressing that timely reporting enhances the chances of swift response and ensures the safety of individuals.

Additionally, the Command advised separated or divorced parents to maintain open communication regarding the welfare of their children, emphasising the importance of a stable support system in safeguarding minors from potential risks.

For emergencies, the public is encouraged to contact the Kano State Police through its designated helplines or the “NPF Rescue Me” application.
