Police Smash Armed Robbery Syndicate, Arrest 9 Suspects In Kano

The Kano State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its fight against violent crime, arresting nine suspected armed robbers allegedly responsible for multiple robbery operations across Kano, Kaduna, and Abuja.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori. while briefing journalists in Kano on Monday, said the arrests were made following a directive from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for all commands to dominate the public space and intensify efforts against criminal activities.

According to the Commissioner, the suspects were apprehended after an armed robbery incident at Unguwar Wambai, Dorayi Babba Quarters, in the early hours of October 8, 2025.

During the attack, the robbers, armed with rifles, carted away a Toyota Yaris vehicle, cash amounting to N3.7 million in local and foreign currencies, three mobile phones, and other valuables.


The victim’s wife was also assaulted, leaving her with a broken tooth caused by a diamond ring.

Police officers from Dorayi Division swiftly responded and arrested one suspect, which led to further coordinated operations by the Command’s Special Intervention Squad (SIS).

The follow-up raids led to the arrest of eight additional suspects in different locations across Kano and Kaduna States.

The suspects include Abubakar Aminu (22), Aliyu Aliyu (23), Abubakar Usman (22) Sulaiman Sani (20) and Yusuf Yusuf (17).

Others are Abdulrahman Aliyu (23), Salisu Hussaini (17), Sulaiman Abdullahi (20) and bdulmutallib Sa’ad (24).

Recovered exhibits from the suspects include one double-barrel gun, an English Falcon pistol, a scrapped Phoenix pistol, 18 live cartridges, an iron cutter, two cutlasses, four sharp knives, three torchlights, two mobile phones, and a red Toyota Corolla operational vehicle with registration number ADK 787 EV.

The Commissioner stated that all the suspects confessed to participating in several armed robbery operations in Abuja, Kaduna, and Kano, including a recent incident at Unguwar Jakada, Dorayi Quarters.

He added that investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be charged to court upon completion.

He further highlighted the success of the Command’s community-based crime-fighting initiative, Operation Kukan Kura, which has led to a significant drop in crime rates across the state.

“Mobile phone snatching and robbery are becoming a thing of the past, while thuggery activities, popularly known as Fadan Daba, have been crippled,” he said.

Commending the officers for their professionalism and dedication, the Commissioner praised their bravery in ensuring the success of the operation.

He also lauded members of the public for their cooperation and urged continued collaboration through timely sharing of intelligence to sustain peace and security in the state.
