CP Abubakar, who was deployed from Lagos state Police Command, had conducted the Presidential and National Assembly election in Zamfara on 25 February 2023 which was adjudged peaceful.

Addressing stakeholders in a meeting held at the Kebbi State Police Command Headquarters, Birnin the CP explained that, the Police and other security agencies held a joint meeting and they all reached a consensus that to have a peaceful poll, all hands must be on deck.

“This is to welcome you all to the police headquarters, Birnin Kebbi. As you are all aware, we invited you here because of the election. Our CP has been deployed to another state while I came here from Lagos to assist you in conducting the election. I am working in the Force CID, annexed in Lagos state.

“For this election, the IGP felt that there is a need for new hands to conduct the election. The last Presidential election was conducted in Zamfara, I was deployed to the state to conduct the election and we thank God it was very successful.

“Considering the fact that we the police are not the only ones that would be conducting the election, we have stakeholders and that is why you are here for us to ensure a peaceful election. Because, if you don’t call stakeholders, they would not be carried along and there would be issues that might hinge peaceful election.

“That is why I felt all of you invited here are important including religion leaders CSOs, Parties members, and all those people that are responsible for peaceful election are all invited for interaction”.

The CP who urged them to cooperate with the security agencies said, the success of the poll would be a success for all stakeholders he added.

Meanwhile, the CP explained that earlier, AIG was here and we were able to interact with all the security agencies that are going to assist us in the elections. We had a successful discussion including the INEC, the REC, and the Returning Officer who is going to conduct the election. We are all together and ready for the election, he said.
