The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed speculation that popular TikTok content creator, Habeeb Hamzat, better known as Peller, was kidnapped, insisting that the entertainer is “safe and not abducted.”

Social media went into a frenzy in the early hours of Thursday after a viral video suggested that the comedian had been dragged out of his vehicle by armed men.

The clip, which trended across TikTok, Instagram, and X, showed Peller in a heated altercation with men around a white minibus.

In the video, which was livestreamed before ending abruptly, the entertainer was heard questioning why a gun was pointed at him.

The footage fuelled panic among his fans, with many calling on security agencies to step in urgently.

However, the police have now debunked the kidnap claims. Speaking on Channels TV, Lagos police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin described the reports as exaggerated and urged the public to avoid spreading misinformation.

“The viral story of TikTok influencer Peller being kidnapped is not true. He is safe. There was an incident, but it was not a case of kidnapping as being peddled online. We advise the public to always verify information before sharing,” Hundeyin said.

He added that preliminary checks showed Peller was not harmed and that none of his belongings were missing.

“We are investigating the allegation, but we can confirm that the person in question, Habeeb, popularly known as Peller, is at home safe and sound,,” Hundeyin added.
