The Rivers State Police Command has refuted a viral social media video alleging that armed Men launched an attack in the state and were repelled by Ijaw youths.

The Command describes the claims as false, misleading, and deliberately crafted to provoke fear and disrupt the peace.

According to a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer for the state Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, on Wednesday, clarified that no incident of such nature was recorded in any part of Rivers State.

The statement noted that the misinformation is the handiwork of individuals intent on stirring unnecessary tension and damaging the State’s stability.

The Police, however, urged residents of the state to disregard the narrative and refrain from sharing unverified content.

The Command affirmed that robust security structures comprising patrol teams, surveillance units, and tactical squads are fully operational across the State.

Iringe-Koko reiterated the command’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and the protection of lives and property under the leadership of the state Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju.

She said, “The public is encouraged to remain calm, stay alert, and rely on official communication channels for accurate information”.
