Police Arrests Unrepentant Robbers, Recovers Catchment of Arms in Sokoto

The Sokoto State Police Command has in a commendable display of action and dedication to public safety, successfully apprehended a robbery syndicate of notorious and unrepentant armed robbers in the state capital.

The command in a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday by the command public relations officer ASP Rufai Ahmad says the apprehended robbers were involved in various robbery operations within and around the state.

The command According to the statement has recovered during the operation a catchment of arms and ammunitions at their disposal.

“On the 20th of March 2024, at about 0000Hrs a team of operatives attached to State CID Sokoto, acting on an intelligence report received, intercepted one Obinna Nwachukwu, Age 36, (2) Ibrahim A.Bello AKA Pastor, Age 39, and (3) Abdulrashid Sulaiman Age 30, all males along Kwannawa-Dange Shunni Road in Sokoto metropolis in possession of three (3) fabricated revolver riffles, six (6) Ak-47 ammunitions, seven (7) cartridges, a master key, three (3) mobile phones, sellotape and a red super cub motorcycle.” says the statement.

The statement further explained that the suspects at the time of their interrogations confessed to having been on their way for a robbery operation in the Kwannawa area of Sokoto metropolis to rob one Jamila Tawosi a businesswoman who was given to them as a target.

Jamila Tawosi a businesswoman was set out as a target of the apprehended robbery syndicate by her former employee Mr Emmanuel Samuel, age 24, who was also arrested later by the police.

The state Commissioner of Police Ali Hayatu Kaigama, commends the efforts of the police officers for their outstanding display of bravery and professionalism during the operation, the statement added.

The police in a statement, however, reiterated that the dedication and bravery shown by the police officers was a clear testimony of their commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of the citizenry in Sokoto and Nigeria at large.

The Command reassured the general public of its unwavering efforts to combat crime and ensure the safety and security of all citizens.
