The Rivers State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate allegedly involved in the abduction of a resident of Port Harcourt, who was released after his relatives paid a N10.3 million ransom.
The Command’s spokesperson, Agabe Kaborlo, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, saying the victim was abducted on 6 September 2026, near Fidelity Bank in the Garrison area of Port Harcourt.
According to her, the victim was held captive for three days at Igbugulu Waterside, Borikiri, before his relatives secured his release after paying the ransom.
Kaborlo said operatives of the command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU-AKU), acting on credible intelligence, launched an intelligence-led operation that resulted in the arrest of two suspected members of the syndicate.
The suspects were identified as 24-year-old Victor Ifeanyi, also known as “Big Boby,” a native of Aguleri Community in Otuocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, and 36-year-old Aniekan Okon Michael, alias “Duff Man,” from Ikot Ukpor in Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
She said preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects allegedly confessed to participating in the abduction and disclosed that the gang comprised six members.
The suspects also reportedly revealed that the gang used a white mini-bus, commonly known as a Keke bus, during the operation.
The police spokesperson said the command had intensified efforts to arrest the remaining members of the syndicate and bring all those involved to justice.
