The Nigeria Police Force has arrested three suspected members of a notorious armed robbery and car-snatching syndicate operating across Kaduna State and the Federal Capital Territory.
The suspects were arrested by operatives of the Special Tactical Squad (STS) during coordinated operations conducted between August 14 and 19, 2026, following actionable intelligence.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Force spolesperson, CSP Ani Iniedu, the suspects were identified as Ahmed Saidu, alias Diamond ‘M’; Alex Gabriel, alias Junior ‘M’; and Ahmed Mahudu, alias Diamond ‘M’.
The police said the suspects were linked to a series of armed robbery incidents involving the snatching of vehicles at gunpoint.
During interrogation, the suspects allegedly confessed to participating in the criminal activities and implicated one Yakubu Yewa, alias Y/Come, as the alleged kingpin of the syndicate.
Police said investigation revealed that Yewa is currently being held at the Kuje Correctional Centre, where he is standing trial for armed robbery.
Further investigation, according to the statement, showed that the alleged kingpin coordinated and directed the syndicate’s robbery operations and the disposal of stolen vehicles within and outside Nigeria.
The police said operatives recovered a red Toyota Corolla and an army-colour Volkswagen Golf 3 during the operations.
The Force reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling criminal networks, protecting lives and property, and ensuring that perpetrators of violent crimes are brought to justice.
