Police Arrest Suspected Car Thieves, Recover Two Stolen Vehicles in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has arrested three suspected car thieves and recovered two stolen vehicles.

This was made known on Thursday in a statement by Abdullahi Kiyawar, the command’s spokesperson.

According to the statement, the arrest followed intensified visibility patrols across state borders, in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, to ensure round-the-clock security operations.

The operation, carried out by the Command’s Special Intervention Squad (SIS), took place on March 2, 2025, at approximately 3:00 pm along Yankaba-Hadejia Road on the Kano-Ringim Express Way. Acting on credible intelligence, the patrol team intercepted and apprehended three individuals identified as Sani Sirajo, 20, from Kaduna State; Rabiu Aliyu, 35, from Sharada Quarters, Kano; and Isah Yakubu, 22, from Katsina State.

During the arrest, the police recovered two stolen vehicles: a Honda Jazz (Ash in color) with registration number SUL 173 and a Pontiac Vibe (White in color) with registration number SUL 516 SM. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had stolen the vehicles from Keffi in Nassarawa State. The suspects have since confessed to their involvement in the theft.

The Kano State Police Command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property, emphasizing that the operation underscores its dedication to combating crime in all forms. Investigations are ongoing, and the recovered vehicles will be returned to their rightful owners.

Adullahi Kiyawa, urged the public to continue providing credible information to assist the police in maintaining a safer environment for all. He assured residents of the Command’s unwavering vigilance and determination to uphold security across the state.
