The Kano State Commissioner of Police has tendered an unconditional apology to the Premier Radio Staff, Muhammad Bello Dabai, who was assaulted by a Police Officer on Monday.

A statement, Tuesday, by the Manager, News & Reports, Mukhtar Yahaya Usman said the apology was contained in a message that was delivered by the Metro Area Commander, ACP Abubakar Moddibbo who brought the officer that assaulted Mr. Dabai to Premier Radio to personally tender his apology.

The CP also stated that the force will investigate the matter and take all the necessary measures to deal with the erring officers that tarnish the image of the force.

According to the statement, the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Metro Area Command, ACP Moddibbo also apologized in person to Premier Radio and promised to follow the matter until Mr. Dabai gets justice.

Adding that the erring officers acted on their own, and hence the Command will not allow them to spoil the cordial relationship that exists between the Police and journalists.

It could be recalled that a team of Police officers that came to apprehend a fugitive suspect in front of Premier Radio ended up in the physical assault and unlawful arrest of Muhammad Bello Dabai, a senior journalist while carrying out his lawful duty, the statement added.
