Guardiola has an agreement with Manchester City through 2025, but he has opened up the possibility of playing for a national team in the future. The 53-year-old strategist was previously connected to Brazil, England, and the US, but the Spaniard opted to remain out of the global scene. Yet Guardiola also disclosed that he views leading a national team at major international competitions like the World Cup, the European Championship, or Copa America as a major turning point in his coaching career.

Guardiola responded as follows when asked if he still had goals to pursue: “a national group. To prepare for a World Cup or a European Championship, I would like to coach a national squad. That’s what I would like to have.”

In response to a question about his favorite national team, he said: “I have no idea who would desire me! Like a club, a national team must want you to work for them.”
With his unmatched tactical skill and successful track record, Guardiola’s potential entry into the world of international football promises to be an intriguing development.

The manager emphasized, nevertheless, that he hasn’t given himself the objective of winning the Copa America, the World Cup, or the Europeans.

“I never really considered it that way [winning a World Cup],” he remarked.

“I never gave winning a league championship or the Champions League any thought when I first started doing this. No. I wondered if I had a job. OK.

“I want to experience what it’s like to be in a World Cup, a Euro, a Copa América, or anything similar. That’s what I would like to have. I would like to have managed in a World Cup, but I’m not sure when that would be—five, ten, or fifteen years from now.”

Over his management career, Guardiola has won 37 awards, including three Champions League championships. Only Sir Alex Ferguson, who claims to have won 49 titles, is greater than him.
Guardiola’s enthusiasm to take on the role of international manager is indicative of his unwavering quest for fresh football challenges and successes. Yet for the time being, he is concentrated on his work with City and has the difficult challenge of holding onto the treble he achieved during the previous season. He will take the dugout once more on Saturday when Bournemouth visits Vitality Stadium in the Premier League.
