The People Democratic Party (PDP) Jigawa state chapter has rejected the outcome of the state Governorship Election in which INEC declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate as the winner.

The chairman 2023 PDP campaign strategy committee Jigawa state Dr. Aminu Abdullahi Taura stated this while addressing newsmen on the outcome of the party stakeholders meeting.

He said the just concluded governorship election witnessed unprecedented irregularities, including violence, thuggery, intimidation, ballot box destruction, vote buying, and many other election malpractices perpetuated by those who are desperate to remain in power.

Dr. Taura added that it was quite unfortunate, to see those who benefited from the free and fair election are now turned to be enemies of such gestures, they deliberately uphold violence and bloodshed as a means of getting political power, this is very disheartening and must be halted.

“All these acts of violence, and election malpractice were perpetuated in the eyes of security agencies and INEC officials but no proper action was taken”

“Based on the evidence we have gathered, the PDP stakeholders in Jigawa state had rejected the result of the Governorship election declared by INEC, and we are in consultation for the next line of action.”

However we are aware of how INEC declared the result of the state assembly of three local governments namely Dutse, Birninkudu, and Gwaram inconclusive simply because PDP won the area, this is unacceptable and we are calling on INEC to announce the result without further delay”

Dr. Taura also called on the state police command to release all PDP supporters arrested and detained during the election for no reason than being PDP members.

“Our vision and mission for establishing prosperous, peaceful, and united Jigawa state is now delayed by the action of non-patriotic politicians, however, our struggle will continue until we actualized the dream of our founding fathers,” Dr. Taura added.
