NUJ Kano Correspondent Chapel Mourns Leadership Correspondent, Abdullahi Yakubu

The Correspondent Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kano Council on Friday announced the death of Abdullahi Yakubu of the Leadership Newspaper.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the Chairman Alhaji Aminu Garko and made available to newsmen.

Yakubu, a Correspondent of Leadership Newspaper in Kano state, passed away, on Friday, aged 55, after a brief illness.

Garko described the seasoned Journalist as a gentleman who died at a time when his services to humanity were needed most.

The signed statement reads in parts;

“With total submission to the Will of Allah Subhanahu Wataala, the leadership of the Correspondent Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists announced the demise of Yakubu of the Leadership newspapers.

A season Journalist, the late Yakubu started his journalism career with Triumph newspapers in Kano.

An easygoing personality, the late Yakubu worked in Sokoto as the state Correspondent of Triumph.

The Ex-chairman of the Jigawa state chapter of the Correspondent Chapel of NUJ also worked in Dutse as the state Correspondent of the Thisday Newspapers from where he joined Leadership newspapers and deployed to Kano.

His positive contribution to journalism will remain indelible in the hearts of those who cross his part.

Late Yakubu, a devout Muslim was survived by a wife, and many children and since being burial according to Islamic injunction.

“We beseech Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Janatul Furdausi,” amin.
