The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Jigawa State Council, has inaugurated a new executive committee for its Information Officers’ Chapel following the expiration of the previous leadership’s tenure last year.
The election of the new officials is expected to strengthen development communication efforts at both the grassroots and state levels.
The newly inaugurated executive members are:
- Muttaka Ahmed Nababi – Chairman
- Yakubu Iliya – Vice Chairman
- Musa Muhammad Hadejia – Secretary
- Jafar Ahmad Dauda – Assistant Secretary
- Garba Ya’u – Auditor
- Magaji Abdullahi – Treasurer
- Shehu Umar Katuka – Financial Secretary
Speaking at the ceremony, the NUJ State Chairman, Comrade Ismail Ibrahim Dutse, represented by his Vice Chairman, Comrade Nura Sani Bello, urged the new executives to remain dedicated, fair, and committed to representing the chapel effectively at all times.
In his acceptance speech, the new Chairman, Muttaka Ahmed Nababi, pledged to bring transformational change to information services in the state.
He assured that his team would improve development communication from the grassroots and ensure the effective dissemination of information on Governor Umar Namadi’s 12-point agenda.
Dignitaries at the event included Bala Umar, Director of Planning and Statistics at the Jigawa State Ministry of Information; Wasilu Umar Ringim, Chairman of the Credentials Committee for the election; as well as members of the NUJ State Executive Council.
