The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has condemned the killing of one of its volunteer staff, Abdurrauf A. Sheriff, who was allegedly stabbed to death by suspected hoodlums while on duty in Kano.

A statement issued on Friday by the Comman spokesperson, SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, said the incident occurred around Gyadi Gyadi Court Road as the volunteer was carrying out his lawful responsibilities.

The NSCDC described the act as a brutal and grievous crime, stressing that such violence against its personnel would not be tolerated.

Following the incident, the Command announced the arrest of four suspects in connection with the killing.

According to the statememt, the suspects were apprehended with dangerous items, including a hacksaw, a locally made weapon known as Danbida, and drugs.

They are currently in custody and are assisting security agencies with ongoing investigations aimed at ensuring justice is served.

The Kano State Commandant of the NSCDC, Commandant Mohammed Hassan Agalama, expressed deep condolences to the family of the deceased.

He also reassured residents of the state of the Corps’ commitment to working closely with other security agencies to rid Kano of criminal elements.

The Command disclosed that, as the matter involves culpable homicide, the suspects would be transferred to the Nigerian Police Force after preliminary investigations for further legal action.

Members of the public were urged to remain calm and continue to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information to enhance security across the state.
