Group known as Non-State Actors Consultative Forum (NOSACOF) has warned non-patriotic politicians against calling for an interim government and described the move as undemocratic, uncivilized, and condemnable.

This was contained in a statement signed on Friday by the lead convener of the forum, Comrade Abdulrazaq Alqali, and made available to newsmen in Kano.

The statement noted that in every democratic election, there must be a loser and a winner, but accepting the popular decision is what makes a man a true Democrat and nationalist.

The statement also commended the well-meaning Nigerians who stand firm when some myopic politicians put their selfish agenda against the democratic values of our dear country by exploiting religious and tribal lines and making remarks targeting at jeopardizing the national unity and security of the country.

The group however faulted Labor Party Presidential candidate Mr. Peter Obi, his VP candidate Dr. Yusuf Datti Ahmad, former president Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, former Governor of Anambra State Chukwuemeka Ezeife for their unguarded comments on the 2023 general election which tantamount to drift Nigerian democracy.

“One of the most regrettable actions is the remarks made by the VP candidate Dr. Yusuf Datti Ahmad on National TV, asking the President and Chief Judge of Nigeria (CJN) to truncate the victory of a valid electoral winner (in Mr. Bola Ahmad Tinubu).

“Mr. Datti also deliberately makes unscrupulous interpretation of the Nigerian constitution all in an effort to create chaos and rile up their support base”

“Just after the election, former President Olusegun Obasanjo a staunch supporter of Mr. Peter Obi released a media statement calling for the cancellation of a lot of the presidential election results.

He also mentioned that the election result is like toying with the future of the country just to rile up their support base.”

Similarly, the former Governor of Anambra State Chukwuemeka Ezeife was caught on live TV saying that the President-Elect Mr. Bola Ahmad Tinubu will not be sworn in as Nigeria’s President and even went ahead to claim that his kinsman LP candidate (Mr. Peter Obi) won the Presidential Election but was rigged out by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“These accusations from Mr. Ezeife were made without providing any substance or evidence to back up his claim.

“Is on record that some supporters of Mr. Peter Obi went to the extent of protesting at the defense headquarters, calling on the Nigerian Military to take over and stop the swearing of the President-Elect, this very dangerous game and must be fought by every well-meaning Nigerian,” the statement declared

The statement also points out that the PDP and NNPP presidential Candidates have shown more decorum and respect to the constitution, as they have refrained from this unpatriotic action but instead PDP has invested their effort in challenging the election in a court of law as constitutionally stipulated, this worth applauding.
