The National Working Committee (NWC) of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has strongly denounced the purported suspension of the party’s Kano State Chairman, Hashimu Dungurawa, describing the action as illegal, undemocratic, null, and void.

Stallion Times reports that Hashimu Dungurawa was allegedly sacked on Monday, following a resolution said to have been signed by 27 executive members endorsing the decision of NNPP executives in Gargari Ward, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area.

The ward executives accused him of fueling divisions within the party and encouraging internal discord.

Following his suspension, the party’s Kano State executive committee on Tuesday announced the appointment of Abdullahi Abiya as the acting chairman of NNPP in the state.

However, Ladipo Johnson, the spokesperson of the NNPP, in a statement on the same day, said the NWC described the alleged suspension as having no effect whatsoever and did not follow the laid-down provisions of the NNPP constitution.

The party recalled that the controversy arose after some executive members of the NNPP in Gargari Ward, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State, allegedly announced the suspension of Dungurawa.

The NWC dismissed the move as a gross anti-party activity, stressing that the individuals involved lacked the constitutional authority to take such action.

According to the statement, the NWC maintained that any disciplinary measure against a state party chairman must strictly adhere to the party’s constitutional procedures, which were clearly violated in this instance.

The committee further commended Dungurawa for his dedication, hard work, and commitment to the party, noting that his leadership and performance have been instrumental to the growth and progress of the NNPP in Kano State.

The NWC reaffirmed its confidence in Dungurawa’s leadership and urged party members to disregard the purported suspension, calling on all stakeholders to uphold party unity, discipline, and respect for constitutional processes.
