NGO Urges Kebbi to Strengthen Accountability Measures of Covid-19 Intervention Funds

A Non-Governmental Organization, Connected Development (Code) SAM_C Projects has demanded transparency from the Kebbi State Government on how to strengthen accountability measures of covid-19 intervention funds.

This was disclosed on Tuesday at a one-day symposium with government officials, community members, developments partner, NGOs, and traditional leaders which took place at the Azibir Hotel Birnin Kebbi.

Delivery his remarks, the Secretary General of CODE, Muktar Modibbo said that the aim of the project is to promote accountability and transparency by tracking government spending of covid-19 funds and advocations for the adoption of legislative frameworks, open procurement, and public audit in the utilization of all covid-19 Intervention funds by the Nigeria government at the national and sub-national levels.

He added that the Kebbi State was among the states that were selected for the symposium that focuses on strengthening accountability measures on covid-19 intervention funds project, adding that the state will equip and identify the standards of NPHCDA, PHC, toilets facilities, and other medical services that can support the health delivery.

“Kebbi is among other states that recorded excellently in some areas of health-related matter at Primary health in the State in fact-finding shows that 72% of the PHC visited in Kebbi have access to clean water.

“It was also noticed that there are inadequate health personnel at the PHC level and the progress of health budget in the State,” he added.
