NG-CAREs: Bagudu Injects Additional N3b into Scheme

Kebbi State Governor, Senator Atiku Bagudu has injected additional three billion naira into the NG-Cares Intervention Scheme aimed at cushioning the economic effect of Covid-19 on trade and commercial ventures.

The Commissioner for Commerce, Industry, Cooperative and Tourism, Alhaji Ibrahim Garba Geza, gave this indication in Birnin Kebbi at the opening of a one-day sensitization workshop on roles and responsibilities of local government leads and gender officers, Kebbi-Cares, Result Area 3 (MSE) for operational grants organized by the Delivery Platform (SME) Unit, of the Ministry of Commerce.

The Commissioner explained that the workshop covered entire Kebbi State to sensitize officers of Area 3, SME who would implement the action recovery and stimulus plan.

Alhaji Ibrahim Garba Geza added that the sensitized leads and gender officers would implement disbursement of operational grant funds to assisting business owners to cushion the devastating effect of Covid-19 on enterprises.

The commissioner expressed confidence on the ability of the officers to perform optimally and efficaciously according to their operational guidelines.

In a remark, the Head of Delivery Platform who is the Director, Tourism in the Ministry of Commerce, Alhaji Danladi Aliyu Dabai, said the sensitization workshop has been organized for leads and gender officers from all the twenty-one local government areas of Kebbi state under the NG-Cares intervention program.

He said the program has been designed to cushion the Covid-19 consequence which affected global economy including Nigeria.

Alhaji Danladi Aliyu Dabai made it clear that the intervention program involved cash transfer, Fadama project, medium and small-scale enterprises, MSE, livelihood support and food security.

The head of the delivery platform commended Governor Atiku Bgaudu for his benevolence and compassion by injecting additional three billion naira into the intervention scheme towards ensuring the upliftment of the lives of the citizenry.

The Director informed the participants that the Result Area 3 of the program entailed the provision of grants to small and medium scale businesses.

In her goodwill message, co-ordinator NG-Cares Kebbi State, Hajiya Ruqayya Muhammad Bawa, requested the participants to be active and co-operative on the field to achieving the target objective of the intervention program.

On his part, Alhaji Muhammad Jibo Kanya the representative of the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, affirmed the commitment of the Ministry towards attaining the goals of the NG-Cares Intervention Scheme.

He welcomed all representatives from local government areas and commended the Ministry of Commerce for striving to meet the target objective of the program.

In similar goodwill message, the General Manager, Community and Social Development Project, CSDP, Alhaji Yakubu Yeldu, expressed delight about the program for the disbursement of the operational grants, urging all stakeholders to be active participants in achieving the desired result.

Leads and gender officers under the KB-Cares program are to swing into action immediately after the sensitization workshop.
