Kogi State’s newly appointed Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, has vowed a resolute crackdown on terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and all forms of criminal activity.

At his maiden press briefing on Wednesday, the Commissioner made it clear that offenders will face the full force of the law.

Assuming office as the 40th Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, CP Kankarofi outlined his vision for a secure state.

“Our mandate as a police force is to protect lives and property and maintain law and order.

Criminal elements operating in our communities will not be tolerated,” he said.

The Commissioner emphasised that policing will be guided by the expectations and needs of citizens, signalling a shift towards community-focused security.

CP Kankarofi stressed the importance of working with sister agencies, traditional rulers, and community leaders to ensure an environment of safety across Kogi State.

“We intend to prioritise the security of Kogi State by working closely with all stakeholders. By engaging citizens, we can deliver policing that truly safeguards everyone.”

He called on residents to cooperate with law enforcement, saying:

“The success of our mandate depends on the cooperation of every individual.

“Together, we can create a safe environment for all.”

The Commissioner expressed appreciation to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for his appointment, describing the day as “historic” in his career.

He reiterated his pledge to uphold law, order, and security across the state.
