The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kano State has intercepted 8,000 bottles of Akuskura, a herbal mixture suspected to contain dangerous drugs, and 48 blocks of Cannabis sativa during an operation along Zaria–Kano Road.
A 37-year-old suspect, Ali Muhammad, was arrested in connection with the consignment.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, by the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Strategic Command, Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics, Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, the interception occurred at Gadar Tamburawa when operatives stopped a trailer transporting tricycles (Keke Napep) from Lagos to Maiduguri.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, by the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Strategic Command, Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics, Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, the interception occurred at Gadar Tamburawa when operatives stopped a trailer transporting tricycles (Keke Napep) from Lagos to Maiduguri.
The drugs were concealed between the tricycles and in a specially constructed compartment beneath the trailer. “The operatives discovered the concealment through their diligence and commitment,” the statement read.
All exhibits and the suspect have been taken into NDLEA custody pending further investigation and laboratory analysis to confirm the nature of the substances and determine the scale of the trafficking network.
The Commander of the Kano State Strategic Command, ACGN AI Ahmad, expressed appreciation to the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), CON, OFR, for his continued support, which he said enables frontline officers to act decisively in curbing drug trafficking.
“The NDLEA urges the public to remain vigilant and to report suspicious consignments or activities to the nearest NDLEA office or other law enforcement agency,” Maigatari added in the statement.
