NAFDAC Warns Against Influx of Unregistered Edible Oils

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has issued a public alert on the growing circulation of substandard and unregistered edible oils in the country.

The agency disclosed this in a statement posted on its X handle on Tuesday.

According to NAFDAC, the products identified include FINO, PUR, OKI, SUPER DELICIEX and LA JONIC.

It added that the oils, whose sources, production processes and safety standards are unknown, are being smuggled into Nigeria and openly sold under multiple brand names in major markets across cities.

The cities include Onitsha, Aba, Owerri, Warri, Enugu, Port Harcourt, Ikom, Calabar, Lagos (Trade Fair, Okiarin, Ikotun, Mushin), Kano, Kebbi, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Yola, Gombe, Bauchi, Idiroko, Makurdi and Lafia.
