The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has executed a series of “surgical aerial attacks” on terrorist strongholds in Niger State, specifically targeting those involved in attacking strategic locations and cattle rustling.

Operating under Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 1, these precision airstrikes were a direct response to recent hit-and-run tactics by criminal elements in the region.

PRNigeria reports that the air operation lasted for several hours.

During this time, ground troops engaged fleeing terrorists in fierce combat, forcing them to abandon rustled cattle. These coordinated efforts are said to have led to the elimination of scores of terrorists.

Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, NAF spokesperson, confirmed the mission, stating it was in direct support of ground troops and aimed at terrorists responsible for recent attacks in the state.

Ejodame detailed that on June 26, credible intelligence, bolstered by strong inter-service and inter-agency cooperation, uncovered significant terrorist activities, including attacks and cattle rustling, in the Kakihun and Kumbashi communities.

In a rapid response, the NAF’s Air Component deployed air assets, conducting multiple waves of precision strikes. These strikes successfully neutralized numerous terrorists, destroyed their logistics, and disrupted their attempts to regroup.

The NAF highlighted that the operation demonstrated its professionalism, rapid response capabilities, and robust coordination with ground forces and other security agencies.

The Nigerian Air Force reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to protecting the lives and property of all Nigerians and ensuring lasting peace across the country.

Local intelligence sources informed PRNigeria that civilians were safeguarded and hundreds of cattle were recovered during the joint aerial and ground operation.
