NACA Begins Nationwide HIV/Aids Assessment Campaign

The National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) has begun a nationwide HIV/AIDs assessment campaign to determine progress made so far.

The National Director General of NACA, Dr. Gambo Aliyu revealed this while opening the North-West Stakeholders annual performance review and management meeting held at Tahir Guest Palace Hotel in Dutse, Jigawa state.

Dr. Aliyu explained that the assessment is targeted at 2,000 centers across the country for reliable data generation on the achievement made in the Prevention, Control, and Management of HIV/Aids in Nigeria.

He noted that the data to be generated from the assessment will enable the Agency to make more effective planning in the camping against the deadly virus.

“This review meeting will help us to evaluate and assess the services provided by over NACA 2,000 centers across the country for future planning.”

He explained that the review meeting will also help NACA to know how far it has done in containing HIV/AIDs within people that have the virus.

The DG then mentioned stigmatization of the HIV victims as a major challenge in their campaign, he then urged the general public to interact with HIV/AIDs victims like every patient of other diseases.
