More Than 100,000 People Have Left Lebanon Due To Israeli Airstrikes

Stallion Times

The UN reported on Thursday that more than 30,000 refugees from Lebanon had taken up residence in Syria.

In the last week, the Israeli army has increased the intensity of its shelling on its neighbor, killing almost 600 Lebanese citizens.

Towns nearest the border have seen thousands of residents flee.

Many of them are Syrians who fled their homeland a few years ago and are currently living in Lebanon.

Gonzalo Vargas Llosa, the UNHCR Representative in Syria, stated, “These are obviously people who are fleeing bombs and who are crossing into a country that has been suffering from its own crisis and violence for 13 years.”

“Of course, the nation is also experiencing an economic disaster. And in my opinion, this only serves to highlight the kind of incredibly tough decisions that both Lebanese and Syrians must make at the moment.”

The UN estimate that 80,000 Lebanese have been displaced within the nation.

China, the European Union, Canada, and other nation have donated millions of dollars to Lebanon to aid the displaced families form the south, Lebanon’s Social Affairs minister said.
Almost a year after the start of war in Gaza, Israel has turned its focus on Lebanese militant group Hezbollah.

Israel’s PM has so far rejected a ceasefire proposal by France and the US.
