Marriage or wedlock, is a culturally recognised union between people. It is universal according to George Peter Murdock. It’s found everywhere.

In those days, it was very simple to marry compared to contemporary modern family.

Family is complex nowadays; the complexity is more prevalent in urban areas where life is unbearably expensive. Fashion is the order of the day.

Beforehand, a groom had nothing to do with tiling his house before his bride moves to his house. This is contrary to modern marriage. A house, rental or otherwise, has to be decorated to the taste of the bride and her family.

The expensiveness of modern life makes marriage difficult and fragile. Divorce is one of the consequences. People tend to lack interest in the contract when they’re faced with a serious pressure.

Among others, lack of tranquillity in the marriage affairs results in marriage for benefits. Men marry well-to-do women for economic advantage which is the genesis of rampant divorce cases.
