Man Utd Signs Noussair Mazraoui, Matthijs De Ligt From Bayern Munich

The acquisition of defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich has been finalized by Manchester United.

Including an initial €45 million (£38.4 million) and €5 million (£4.3 million) in add-ons, De Ligt’s move is valued at €50 million (£42.7 million). Having registered by midday on Thursday, the player will be eligible for United’s opening Premier League encounter against Fulham on Friday, live on Sky Sports.

After joining Bayern from Juventus, the 24-year-old Netherlands international center back has played 73 games and scored five goals in his two seasons there.

De Ligt also played for Ajax, who won the Eredivisie in 2019 under Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United.

Right-back Mazraoui, who was in the last two years of his Munich deal, moves to Old Trafford in the meantime after recently witnessing a £16.5 million move to West Ham break down.

It is anticipated that United will concentrate on midfield acquisitions after Mazraoui and De Ligt arrive.

Any prospective inflows, though, will be contingent upon funding and appraisal.

Regarding Manuel Ugarte, talks are still ongoing with Paris Saint-Germain; however, the French team has not yet budgeged on price.

With just over two weeks left in the window, United is exercising patience since they know PSG might have to sell, and the player is eager to get to Old Trafford.

Therefore, it is not anticipated that personal terms will be an issue.

But Burnley and United are still in negotiations over Sander Berge, who was sidelined for Monday’s victory over Luton due to a niggle. United is also keeping an eye on other midfield players.

Youssouf Fofana of Monaco and Sofyan of Fiorentina also remain live options.

With budgets, it may require a sale for United for them to go back into the market. There have been no further bids as yet for Scott McTominay, and Casemiro is now expected to stay.
