Man Utd And Chelsea In Talks Over Swap Deal Of Sterling For Sancho

In negotiations to acquire Raheem Sterling, Manchester United and Chelsea may see Jadon Sancho move to Stamford Bridge.

According to the Telegraph, United sports director Dan Ashworth met with Chelsea on Tuesday to discuss a massive deal that would see the two out-of-favor players switch teams. Even losing his jersey number, Sterling has been shut out of Stamford Bridge, and the Red Devils are prepared to provide him with a way out, while Chelsea is looking to give Enzo Maresca more attacking options.

United sees an opportunity to get Sterling without having to pay a fee because Chelsea has made it obvious that they want to transfer the winger. Old Trafford’s attraction is strengthened by the fact that the Blues are required to contribute a portion of Sterling’s salary, which exceed £300,000 per week, at his next club.

Chelsea have admired Sancho for a long time and his inclusion could be enough to see a swap deal materialise.

Sancho hasn’t been included in United’s squads since the beginning of the season, after seemingly making up with Erik ten Hag earlier in the summer.

The 24-year-old could need a little respite from the grind after a terrible stint at Old Trafford. After spending £73 million to join the Red Devils in 2021, he has only made 83 appearances for the team and, like Sterling, was left off of England’s Euro 2024 roster.

The two teams have until Friday at 11 p.m. UK time to finalize the conditions of a swap agreement. While Chelsea is preparing a bid for Brentford striker Ivan Toney, United is nearing the acquisition of Manuel Ugarte from PSG.
