Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has reaffirmed his commitment to women’s empowerment in Kogi State by announcing that women will occupy all Vice Chairmanship candidate positions in the upcoming Local Government elections.
He announced in Lokoja at a stakeholders meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Governor emphasized the crucial role women play in politics and pledged to give them their rights and privileges in governance. He stated that women would be given priority in the governance of Kogi State.
He also revealed that a substantial number of Councillorship positions would be allocated to women in the forthcoming Council polls, increasing the previous administration’s 35% women inclusion to 40%.
Governor Ododo assured that the forthcoming Local Government elections would be credible, hitch-free, and fair, with no imposition of candidates.
He highlighted his administration’s achievements and pledged to regularly interface with the people of Kogi State.
The also Governor commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s efforts to improve the economy and urged Nigerians to support the Renewed Hope administration.
Additionally, the Governor advised against the planned nationwide protest, urging parents in Kogi State not to allow their children to participate.
Senators Isa Echocho of Kogi East, Sunday Karim, and Representative Sani Egidi Abdulraheem of Ajaokuta Federal Constituency, who spoke at the occasion, pledged support for transparent and credible elections.
