The League of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Kano State has applauded the Chief Judge, Justice Dije Abdu Aboki, for her outstanding leadership and sweeping reforms that have redefined the administration of justice in the state.

In a statement issued on Wednesday in Kano, the League described Justice Aboki’s tenure as “visionary and transformative,” noting that her reforms have modernized court infrastructure, strengthened financial accountability, enhanced staff welfare, and restored public confidence in the judiciary.

Justice Aboki, the first female Chief Judge in the state’s history, was lauded for setting a new standard of integrity, transparency, and institutional efficiency.

Under her leadership, the judiciary has undergone major infrastructural renewal, including the renovation of the High Court headquarters and other judicial complexes.

According to the League, these upgrades have created “dignified, secure, and professional spaces for justice delivery,” improving accessibility and working conditions for judges, lawyers, and litigants.

“Financial reforms have also been a hallmark of her tenure.

“The Probate Unit achieved a record revenue generation of over N220 million, the highest in three decades, while tighter fiscal controls eliminated leakages and recovered unaccounted funds.

“In addition, Justice Aboki approved an increase in fuel allowances for magistrates from N120,000 to N150,000, a move the League described as “a bold demonstration of empathy and commitment to judicial independence.”

“She has also driven digital transformation across the justice system, introducing e-filing systems, digitized court records, and continuous capacity-building programs for judicial staff.”

These initiatives, according to the League, have reduced case delays and improved record management, aligning Kano’s judiciary with global best practices.

Beyond institutional reform, Justice Aboki’s leadership has symbolized gender inclusion and empowerment.

“As the first woman to occupy the office, her success proves that visionary leadership transcends gender and title,” the League said.

The group urged all stakeholders, including the Bar, Bench, civil society, and development partners, to rally behind Justice Aboki’s reform agenda to sustain the gains achieved.

“The progress recorded under Justice Aboki’s stewardship has set a new benchmark for judicial governance in Nigeria.

“We call on other states to emulate Kano’s model of reform, which demonstrates that with the right leadership, public institutions can deliver excellence, equity, and accountability,” the League said.
