Kwara State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting innovative ideas aimed at improving the quality of education across the state.

The Commissioner for Education, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, made this known at the launch of a book titled “Artificial Intelligence Tools Handbook for Teachers,” authored by a public school teacher, Mrs. Benedita Fadimu.

Olohungbebe said the government remains dedicated to fostering innovation in the education sector and is prepared to support initiatives that can enhance teaching and learning outcomes.

“We need more professionals like Mrs. Fadimu, individuals who, against all odds, step forward with ideas that can be scaled for system-wide benefit,” he said.

He also commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for creating an enabling environment that allows such innovations to thrive.

The Commissioner disclosed that Mrs. Fadimu initially reached out to him in June 2025 with a proposal to train teachers on the use of artificial intelligence tools in classrooms.

Following a review and refinement process by the Ministry’s technical team, the proposal was aligned with the state’s education priorities and subsequently approved by the governor.

He noted that the initiative led to the training of teachers across the state, equipping them with practical skills in applying AI tools to teaching. Mrs. Fadimu later developed a structured Teachers’ Guide to further support the integration of AI into classroom practice.

According to him, the official launch of the guide attracted key stakeholders, including the Chairman of the House Committee on Education, Hon. Mohammed Saliu Baba Boriya, the Executive Chairman of Ilorin South Local Government, Hon. AbdulMajeed Podo, as well as principals, teachers, and students.

In her remarks, the author, Mrs. Fadimu, described the book as a milestone in the development of education in Kwara State. She emphasized the growing relevance of technology in education and the need for teachers to adapt to modern tools.

“Artificial Intelligence is no longer a distant concept; it is already transforming classrooms globally. This handbook is designed to help teachers effectively integrate AI into their teaching,” she said.

She explained that the book simplifies AI concepts and provides practical tools to support lesson planning, assessment, classroom management, and professional development.

Mrs. Fadimu stressed that AI is not meant to replace teachers but to support them in delivering better learning outcomes.

She encouraged educators and stakeholders to embrace innovation and digital transformation, noting that the future of education lies in combining technology with human creativity.

The author also expressed gratitude to the state government, colleagues, and supporters who contributed to the successful completion of the project.
