Kogi: NDE Flags-off Community-Based Training Scheme in Isanlu

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) as part of its efforts to take the fight against unemployment to the grassroots has commenced a 3 months training tagged “Community-Based Business Training Scheme “(CBBTS) for unemployed youths in Isanlu Community in Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The Director General of NDE, Mall. Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo who was represented by the Kogi State Coordinator, Mr Ibidun Abiodun Amos, said during the flag-off ceremony at Isanlu community that the program was designed to train youths in marketable skills prevalent in the community for a period of 3 months. He stated that the objective of the program is to add value to the community socially, and economically while creating jobs through the training and establishment of businesses. According to him, twenty (20) participants were recruited in the Isanlu community in two skills leather works and fashion design.

Earlier in his welcome address, the HOD of the Special Public Works (SPW) department, Mr. Toyin Ajibade charged participants to take full advantage of the opportunity for jobs.

The Director of the SPW Department, Mrs. Olaomi Roselyn Sylvia stated that Graduate trainees would be given Basic Business Training (BBT) and loans as an empowerment package and Starter packs as an exit strategy.

The traditional leader of the Community, the Agbana of Isanlu Land, Dr. Moses Babatunde Etombi, represented by Oba Faniyi Olusegun, charged participants to remain good ambassadors of the community.
