Kogi State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in north-central Nigeria on Wednesday rolled out the drum in celebration of the Supreme Court judgement which affirmed the electoral victory of the state Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo.
Governor Ododo who made a triumphant entry to the state capital days after the supreme court judgement, said the victory at the supreme court was not for the APC and himself alone, but entire people of the state as he dedicates his victory to democracy, with a solemn appeal to citizens to join hand with him to move the state to another level of economic and infrastructural development.
He said Kogi State is blessed with enormous mineral deposits that can only be harnessed to the advantage of the State if the people are united in support of the current administration.
“I am calling on everyone to join us in developing Kogi State. The State is the only State we can authoritatively claim to be our state. The State is blessed with enormous mineral resources.
“I am calling on all and sundry to come home and support my administration to serve the state better.
“As a political party, APC has the philosophy of inclusive development and my doors are wide open for advice.
“I need your cooperation and support so that together we can take the state to the promised land, where the state will be a center of attraction to other states in the country.”
Governor Ododo who also appealed to Nigerians to support President Ahmed Bola Tinubu to enable him to achieve his laudable programs for the nation, stated that the President has put measures in place to ensure the country’s economy is revived to end hardship in the nation.
While appreciating the immediate past governor of the state, Yahaya Bello for laying a solid foundation for his lieutenants to serve the people better, Governor Ododo stated that he was not trained to be making noise, but to always feel the impulse of the people and attended to their needs.
Ododo promised to prioritize the welfare of the people of Kogi State, saying, “I have no reason to fail the people who gave me the mandate.”
APC Chairman Kogi State Chapter, Hon. Abdullahi Bello, appealed to Governor Ododo to be magnanimous in his victory at the Supreme Court by allowing some members who left the party to return having explained why they had defected to the opposition before the last governorship election.
“I congratulated Governor Ododo for the victory. Now that the distractions due to litigations are over, the people expect you to deliver more dividends of democracy and we are sure you will not fail them,” he stated.
