Kebbi State Government has ordered the immediate closure of the College of Health Technology, Jega, following a student protest that turned violent.
Announcing the closure during a press briefing, the Commissioner for Higher Education, Isah Abubakar Tunga, said the action was necessary to prevent further escalation of unrest.
The protest, which began over grievances including lack of course accreditation, poor sanitation, and bad leadership, saw angry students target the Provost, burning his house and vandalizing his car.
Abubakar Tunga assured that a committee would investigate the incident, and those responsible would face consequences.
The college will remain closed for three weeks to a month.
