A non-Governmental organization Center for Democracy and Development (CDD) in conjunction with the Kebbi State Development Forum (KDF) has made recommendations on facilitating the conduct of credible elections bereft of hitches in Kebbi state.

In a joint press conference held at Jumbale hotel in Birnin Kebbi, the (CDD) Director, Idayat Hassan, and Chairperson (KDF) election committee, Dr. Fatimah L Adamu remarked that poll officials’ voters, and security officials adhered to key processes governing the conduct of the local government election held in the state last Saturday except for minimal misunderstanding recorded in some areas, such as Kalgo, local government.

The organizations advised the Kebbi state independent Electoral Commission (KESEC) to hasten the process of promptness in the provision of election material and commencement of voting schedule.

They also acknowledge a high turnout of voters, especially women across the 21 local government areas, while there was voter apathy in other areas.

The organization also advised KESIEC to intensify voter education against financial inducement/(vote buying) or (see and buy) for electing candidates, they equally called on government to adequately fund the commission to enable it to perform its function unhindered.

However, they recommended that KESIEC should ensure adequate sensitization of all stakeholders on the election processes, adding that, there is a need for more civil society and NGO engagement in the sensitization and observation process of the LGA Election.

They, therefore, adjudge the local government election in Kebbi state as fair, peaceful with impressive turn-out voters.
