Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Kano State, under the Kano Civil Society Forum (KCSF), have partnered with the Canadian Funds for Local Initiatives through the Canadian High Commission in Nigeria to promote good governance, peace, security, and combat gender-based violence.
During a meeting with Canadian Commission officers in Kano, which had over 40 COSs, KCSF President Muhammad emphasized the goal of exposing CSOs to donor agencies for better access to funding and tackling pressing issues such as climate change, insecurity, and gender-based violence.
He highlighted that over 40 CSOs in Kano are actively addressing various concerns and require more support from donor agencies to sustain their work.
The President stressed the need for a stronger focus on health and education, areas that significantly impact the lives of Kano residents.
He also noted efforts to shift from mere advocacy to budget tracking, establishing feedback mechanisms, and adopting bottom-up approaches for impactful interventions.
