Kano: Top Government Officials Vow to Ensure Transparency, Accountability in Service

The Kano state government officials who are attending a three-day workshop on the development of the 2024 to 2026 medium-term expenditure framework (MEF) currently ongoing in Kaduna State, have vowed to ensure transparency and accountability in discharging their mandates for accelerated development.

The Kano State Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Rt. Hon. Nasiru Sule Garo who is among the participants of this workshop held in Kaduna State gave this indication in a chat with newsmen on the lesson learned during these three days’ workshops.

Garo who described the workshop as timely, commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for approving and taking all the responsibilities involved in this workshop.

He, therefore, highlighted on behalf of the other members of this meeting, some of the benefits and objectives of this workshop, to provide an overview of the 2023 half-year budget performance in terms of revenue and expenditure, it also helped to sensitize participants to understand the linkage between policy plan State development plan and annual budget as a tool to poverty reduction and vulnerability among citizens of the state.

Other objectives according to the Commissioner is to come up with credible and acceptable resource projections that can be used to build the 2024 annual budget in line with requirements of public financial management law reforms among other benefits, he mentioned.

Garo expressed optimism that at the end of this workshop, robust and reliable data that would serve as a guide to the state would be harmonized
