The Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with the European Union (EU) in key sectors such as education, renewable energy, digital economy, and human capital development to foster sustainable progress in the state.
This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Director-General of Media and Publicity at the Kano Government House, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
According to the statement, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf made this known while receiving the EU Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Mr. Gautier Mignot, who paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House in Kano.
Governor Yusuf expressed appreciation to the EU for choosing Kano as the host of the first-ever Study in Europe Fair in Africa, describing it as a clear demonstration of the Union’s confidence in the state’s potential. He emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships in education and improving access to sustainable energy to boost industrial growth and economic stability.
The governor also highlighted achievements recorded under his administration in the last two years and appealed for EU support in the implementation of the state’s development blueprint aimed at transforming critical sectors.
In his remarks, Ambassador Mignot said the visit was aimed at exploring avenues for collaboration, particularly in education and digital innovation. He noted that his team would also assess ongoing and completed EU-supported projects in Kano and engage with stakeholders on youth empowerment and economic advancement.
