Kano TB Network Elects New Officials

The Kano branch of TB Network has elected new executive officers.

The election was supervised by the National Coordinating Body of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) located in States, and Local Government Areas in Nigeria working under the aegis of TB NETWORK.

Announcing the results of the election on Sunday at the National TB and Leprosy Control Program Center, Infectious Disease Hospital (TBLCP IDH) Kano, the Chairman electoral committee from the national office, Aminu Ibrahim declares Sunusi Hashimu as the new Kano State Coordinator and Nuhu Naabba Tela as the Deputy Coordinator.

Other elected officials are Ibrahim Abdullahi, Secretary, Sani Shafiu Dawakin Tofa, PRO, and Abdulhadi Abdullahi, Ex-official.

In his acceptance speech, Sunusi Hashimu thanked all the stakeholders for believing in him and giving him the opportunity to serve as Kano State Coordinator, Kano TB Network.  

“I promised to serve with dedication, honesty, equity, and transparency,” he added.

TB Network is a registered group of CSOs, CBOs, and other stakeholders working in the area of tuberculosis in Nigeria. Its national office has an elected National Coordinator overseeing the National Office and Projects implementation.

It has a 10-member Board of Trustees and a 12-member National Steering Committee drawn from the 6 zones of the country.

The Network was formed in March 2009, with the inspiration of the ENHANSE Country Office to set up an umbrella body with the responsibility of coordinating members’ activities.

ENHANSE is Enabling HIV & AIDS, TB, and Social Sector Environment program that works to create an enabling policy and legislative environment for high-quality accessible health and education programs and services at the national level in Nigeria.
