Sumaila Local Government Area of Kano State has convened a stakeholders’ engagement forum to gather public input and suggestions for the preparation of its 2026 fiscal year budget.
The forum, held on Friday at the Palace of the District Head of Sumaila, brought together traditional leaders, civil society groups, government officials, and other key stakeholders.
Chairman of the Local Government, Farouk Abdu Sumaila, stressed the importance of participatory governance, noting that the exercise was designed to ensure the voices of the people are captured and reflected in the forthcoming budget.
Also present was the Director of Personnel Management, Baffa Bello Gaya, who commended participants for their contributions and underscored the role of transparency and accountability in local government administration.

Representing the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Bashir Hamza Baba lauded the initiative and pledged continued state government support for inclusive governance and grassroots development.
In his presentation, the Head of Department for Planning, Research, and Statistics, Aminu Abdullah, outlined the budgeting process and encouraged participants to offer practical recommendations to guide the 2026 budget framework.
The event concluded with an interactive session where participants highlighted pressing needs in health, education, infrastructure, and youth empowerment, urging the local government to prioritize these areas in its plans.
