The Kano State Ministry of Health has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to providing quality, accessible, and equitable healthcare services across the state.

Speaking during a joint press briefing to commemorate World Sight Day, World Mental Health Day, and the National Childhood Tuberculosis (TB) Testing Week, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, said the observance underscores the government’s dedication to improving the overall well-being of its citizens.

Dr. Yusuf commended the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for its continued prioritization of health as a core pillar of development, noting that the government has sustained free and accessible healthcare services for residents across all local government areas.

He explained that the event was aimed at increasing public awareness of critical health issues, particularly those related to vision care, mental health, and childhood tuberculosis, urging residents to adopt healthy lifestyles and seek medical attention promptly when symptoms arise.

The Commissioner disclosed that recent studies have shown a higher prevalence of mental health challenges among women, stressing the need for ongoing community engagement, psychosocial support, and early intervention to promote mental well-being.

Reiterating the Ministry’s commitment, the Commissioner assured that the Kano State Ministry of Health will continue to strengthen health education, preventive care, and disease surveillance systems to build a healthier and more resilient population.
