The Kano State Police Command has announced the arrest of three suspected armed robbers and the recovery of two pistols and 23 rounds of live ammunition, describing the development as a major breakthrough in the fight against crime in the state.
According to the statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, on Friday, operatives of the Command’s Special Weapon and Tactics (SWAT) Base, Dorayi, acting on credible intelligence and on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, arrested one Isyaku Maude, 37, popularly known as Dan Sokoto, of Bachirawa Quarters, Kano.
“The suspect confessed to committing a series of armed robberies within Kano metropolis with his syndicate members,” the police stated.
The Command added that “discreet investigations led to the arrest of two additional suspects,” identified as Sahabi Danladi, 20, of Kofar Mata Quarters, Kano, and Najib Ibrahim, 32, also of Bachirawa Quarters.
Items recovered from the suspects included “a Beretta pistol with breach No. 2322892, a fabricated Beretta pistol, and twenty-three (23) rounds of 9mm live ammunition.”
Commending the operation, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, praised the officers for their commitment and professionalism, while also thanking residents of the state for their cooperation.
The Command also urged members of the public to continue to support security efforts, calling on citizens “to report any suspicious activities or information to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency numbers.”
