Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, said that the Kano state Government will, in partnership with the Federal Government, resume the Wuju-Wuju road project abandoned for the past ten years.

He, visibly, is happy with the development, said the Federal Government agreed to wade into the resumption of the road construction project which was initiated by the former Governor of Kano state, the National leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

A statement on Saturday by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mustapha Muhammad, quoted him as saying the road will cover the Jakara river, and be adorned with street lights, beautifying the areas and reducing the hardships faced by the people living in the area.

According to the Governor, history repeats itself, “in 2013, during the second tenure of Engineer Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, I was the Commissioner of Works and had worked day and night on the construction of the road, but after the elapse of Kwankwaso’s tenure, the project was stopped, he stated.

“We now seek the collaboration of the Federal Government, and I am glad to inform you that the agreement was made to resume work in the next three days,” the governor said.

Governor Yusuf added that the work will, by the grace of God, be completed in the shortest possible time and instructed the contractors to start work immediately.
