Kano State Government has intensified efforts to improve electricity supply through strategic collaboration with stakeholders in the energy sector.

The Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy, Gaddafi Sani Shehu, disclosed this while outlining the government’s plans to expand access to reliable and sustainable energy across the state.

He said the recent launch of the state’s electricity policy, alongside the strengthening of the newly established electricity market, is aimed at promoting sustainable power access and supporting community development.

According to the commissioner, the ministry is actively engaging solar mini-grid developers, inviting proposals for innovative energy projects to complement existing efforts.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to driving socio-economic growth through improved energy solutions.

Shehu also revealed that the state is pursuing plans to generate its own electricity, with a focus on achieving greater self-sufficiency in power supply.

He added that the ministry remains open to partnerships with private developers and stakeholders to ensure the delivery of stable and sustainable electricity to residents.

The initiatives, he noted, reflect the administration of Abba Kabir Yusuf’s determination to tackle power challenges and enhance the overall quality of life in the state.
