The Kano State Ministry for Public Procurement, Projects Monitoring and Evaluation (MPPPME) has officially launched the Kano State Integrated Projects Monitoring System (KSIPMS), a digital platform designed to enhance openness, transparency, and accountability in the execution of public projects across the state.
The launch of the platform was announced by the Commissioner and State Co-Chair of the Open Government Partnership (OGP), who described the initiative as a major milestone in Kano State’s ongoing governance reforms.
The KSIPMS aligns with the OGP Action Plan and underscores the state’s commitment to good governance, citizen participation, and compliance with the Open Contracting Data Standard (OCDS).
The technology-driven system provides a comprehensive framework for monitoring and evaluating government-funded projects.
By offering real-time access to project data, the platform enables citizens to track implementation progress, assess outcomes, and understand public spending, thereby strengthening public confidence and institutional accountability.
Speaking at the launch, the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, described the initiative as a transformative step toward transparent governance.
He noted that the platform would empower citizens to play an active role in overseeing public projects.
“The establishment of the Kano State Integrated Projects Monitoring System marks a significant advancement in our efforts to ensure transparency and accountability in government operations.
“An informed citizenry is critical to effective governance, and this platform provides the tools for our people to actively engage with and oversee public projects,” the governor said.
The KSIPMS features real-time project tracking that provides information on project timelines, budgets, and completion status.
It also includes a public feedback mechanism that allows citizens to report issues and share observations on project execution, fostering two-way communication between the government and the public.
In addition, the platform is equipped with data analytics and reporting tools to support evidence-based decision-making and efficient allocation of resources.
Its user-friendly interface ensures accessibility for users regardless of their level of technical expertise.
The Kano State Government has called on citizens, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to actively engage with the KSIPMS as part of collective efforts to monitor public projects.
Through shared oversight, the state aims to build a more transparent, accountable, and responsive government that serves the interests of its people.
