The Kano State Housing Corporation (KSHC) has alerted the public to alleged illegal land-grabbing activities at Madinawa, Gurjiya area of Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area, behind Amana City.

The management of the Corporation, under the leadership of its Managing Director, Abdullahi Rabiu, accused some individuals described as land grabbers of unlawfully encroaching on land belonging to the Kano State Government and under the custody of KSHC.

The Corporation urged members of the public to take note of the development and exercise caution when considering any land transactions in the affected area.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Director of Public Enlightenment, Ismail Garba Gwammaja, the Corporation said the suspects were illegally demarcating the land, creating unauthorized layouts, and selling plots to unsuspecting members of the public.

KSHC described the act as fraudulent, criminal, and punishable under the law.

“The entire land in question is the legal property of the Kano State Government under the custody of the Kano State Housing Corporation.

“No individual, group, or agent has been authorized to sell, allocate, or transact any portion of the said land,” the statement read.

The Corporation warned members of the public to refrain from buying, selling, or negotiating any land transaction in the affected area, stressing that anyone found encroaching on the land or engaging in illegal dealings would face the full weight of the law.

It further stated that the government would not hesitate to take decisive legal action, including demolition of illegal structures and prosecution of offenders, to protect public property and safeguard innocent citizens.

KSHC urged prospective land buyers to always verify land ownership and authenticity with the Corporation before entering into any transaction to avoid falling victim to fraudsters.
