The Kano State Ministry of Health (SMOH) has called on residents across the state to prioritize their health while observing the holy month of Ramadan.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry, Nabilusi Abubakar K/Na’isa, ahead of the fasting period, the Ministry emphasized the importance of maintaining healthy practices throughout the sacred month.

According to the statement, the Ministry particularly advised individuals living with chronic medical conditions such as diabetes, ulcer, hypertension, and other related illnesses to seek medical consultation before commencing the fast.

Healthcare professionals can provide appropriate guidance on medication adjustments, dietary management, and safe fasting practices.

Residents are also strongly cautioned to minimize unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight, especially during peak daytime hours, in order to prevent dehydration and heat related complications. Prolonged exposure to high temperatures while fasting may result in significant loss of body fluids and other serious health risks.

To ensure a safe and healthy Ramadan, the Ministry encourages the public to
Drink adequate fluids between Iftar and Suhoor.

Maintain a balanced and nutritious diet.
Take prescribed medications as directed by healthcare providers.

Seek immediate medical attention if they experience dizziness, severe weakness, or any unusual symptoms.

The Ministry of Health remains committed to safeguarding the wellbeing of all residents and wishes the people of the state a peaceful, healthy, and spiritually rewarding Ramadan.
