Kano Governor Donates 10,000 Bags of Rice, Maize to Lower-Level Civil Servants

As part of the State Government’s ongoing support for Civil Servants, the Governor has graciously donated 10,000 bags of Rice and maize to Civil Servant in grade level 1 to 6.

A statement on Thursday by the Director of Public Enlightenment, Office of the Head of Civil Service, Bintu Nuhu Yakasai said the Kano State Head of Civil Service, Abdullahi Musa disclosed during an interview at the Office of the Head of Service.

Musa said the donation is to support Civil Servants who were impacted by the removal of fuel subsidies in the state

“In light of the upcoming salary review, which is set to take place this year, the Governor has pledged to continue making efforts to improve the welfare of Civil Servants in the State.”

The Head of Service called on Civil Servants to rededicate their efforts towards moving civil service forward in that direction.

Similarly, on the 2nd of January, 2024, the State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf agreed to a six-month Wage Award for Civil Servants in the State with a monthly increase of N20,000.00 (Twenty thousand Naira) for Six months commencing from the 1st day of December, 2023.

The Government also agreed to a three-month Wage Award for Pensioners in the sum of N15,000.00 (Fifteen Thousand Naira) also commencing from 1st December, 2023.

This was contained in a paper jointly signed by the Chairman Wage Award Committee Comrade Baffa Sani Gaya, Special Adviser Labour Matters, Permanent Secretary Establishment, Umar Muhammad Jalo, and Solicitor General/Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Mustapha Nuraddeen Muhammad, representing the State Government and Labour Union Leaders represented by NLC Chairman, Comrade Kabiru A. Inuwa, JNC Chairman, Comrade Hashim A. Sale, TUC Chairman, Comrade Mubarak Buba Yerima during a ceremony marking the signing agreement between Government representative and Labour Union leaders held at the Conference Hall of Office of the Head of Civil Service.
